About Diane Hansen

SEASONED PROFESSIONAL

I hold a Master’s Degree from Wheaton College. As a mental health counselor, I thrive when presented with clients that need helpful insight into the challenges they face. Whether someone has a mental illness, difficult family dynamics, struggling relationships, or are needing to learn how to better communicate with a boss or partner, I can teach them effective strategies to improve their lives. If an individual is facing a huge loss or needs new direction, I can walk with them through the grief process or decision making. I believe all of us are trying the best we can to perform at our highest level. However, we are also all prone to fall into negative traps that make it difficult to see a clear way out of being stuck or feeling down. This is when we all need some help from someone who has the wisdom and experience to help guide us through this maze, called life. Whatever our limits may be, we are all valuable and here for a purpose. With my personal experience as a parent of two children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, I strive to be a “go-to” expert on coaching individuals, couples, and families through the different and often very difficult journeys we have been given.

Unique About Me

Social Skills Groups! So, those of us with children on the autism spectrum that are deemed “high-functioning / Asperger’s” have struggled trying to find services to teach communication and social skills. As our kids fail to meet up to peer situations they turn inward to become depressed and anxious. I hope to support their learning of:

  • How to deal with new situations and people
  • Teach the pros and cons of how their brains process information.
  • Discuss the ways to start, continue, and stop conversations especially about their preferred topics.
  • Discuss mind-reading/mind-blindness and its effects on social blunders
  • Non-verbals, sarcasm, gestures, tone, inflection, and metaphors
  • AND SO MUCH MORE
